New pavos announced
The Pavo Society of student ambassadors for Saint Peter’s College announced its new members on Monday, December 3. Thirteen new members will join the society’s current membership of seventeen students.
Pavos represent the college to visitors through outreach such as leading campus tours, chatting online with prospective students and volunteering at campus events. Pavos also visit their own high schools when home, serving as role models for prospective students from educational backgrounds similar to their own. The Pavos’ newly peer-elected Executive Board is comprised of Communications Chair Peaches Dela Paz ’10, Development Chair Audrey Wekesa ’10 and Morale Chair Juan Cárdenas ’09. The outgoing Executive Board seniors are Communications Chair Megan Craven ’08 and Development Chair Evgeniya Pavlova ’08. Cheryl Schenk, a senior assistant director in the Office of Admission, serves as advisor to the Pavo Society.
The new Pavos will return to campus from the winter break for an extensive training session January 13-15, 2008. They will learn the art of giving tours and engaging in dialogue with prospective students and their families, drawing upon the knowledge and experience of the E-board and current Pavo members.
The new Pavos are: Brandon Blum ’11 of Peoria, Arizona; Angelica Ceballos ’11 of Hackensack, New Jersey; Krysten Chen ’11 of Union, New Jersey; Francis De Michele ’11 of Pennsauken, New Jersey; Jennifer Evans ’10 of Deptford, New Jersey; Christopher Fanguy ’10 of Monroeville, Pennsylvania; Jonathan Fernandez ’10 of North Bergen, New Jersey; Marisa Ferris ’11 of Belleville New Jersey; Jean Fortune ’10 of Medway, Massachusetts; Barza Hashmi ’10 of Jersey City, New Jersey; Rebekah Maroun ’10 of Somerset, New Jersey; Nicole Onello ’11 of North Bergen, New Jersey; Priscila Perez ’10 of Union City, New Jersey.
If you are interested in representing Saint Peter’s as a Pavo Society student ambassador, annual recruitment and interviews will be held next November. The Pavo Society seeks students with enthusiasm, curiosity and an overall appreciation for the quality of education that we seek at Saint Peter’s.
