Student Rights and Responsibilities

The staff of Saint Peter’s Health Services Office is dedicated to providing all members of the Saint Peter's College community with access to high quality health care services. We recognize clients as partners in their care, and make every effort to address their needs and concerns.

As a client, you have the RIGHT to:

  1. Receive considerate and respectful care without discrimination.
  2. Have your diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis explained in terms you can understand.
  3. Receive all information needed to participate in your care.
  4. Refuse treatment, and to be informed of the consequences of making this decision.
  5. Expect that your personal privacy will be respected by all members of the Health Service staff.
  6. Expect that your personal records will be kept confidential and released 1) only with your written consent to any person outside SPC, or 2) in case of medical emergency, 3) in response to a court-ordered subpoena, 4) to the state in cases of reportable diseases.
  7. Know the names and positions of all people involved in your care, either by introduction or name tags.
  8. Review your medical records.

As a client, you have the RESPONSIBILITY to

  1. Provide accurate and complete information about your medical history.
  2. Ask questions if you do not understand your diagnosis, treatment or instructions
  3. Provide accurate information and prompt attention to process insurance claims
