  • Bodleian Library Broadside Ballads 30,000 printed broadside ballads from the 16th to the 20th century. A wonderful resource not only for music but for the study of history and society as well.

  • Choral Public Domain Library Over 5,000 choral scores, most with both PDF scores and music in MIDI, MP3, NoteWorthy Composer, Finale, or Sibelius Scorch formats. Over 200 volunteers have contributed scores and audio to the site, which is especially strong in 16th century music (there are over 2,300 Renaissance pieces)Baroque, Romantic, and Modern.

  • Guide to Medieval and Renaissance Instruments Photos, descriptive texts and audio, from Musica Antiqua, an ensemble of musicians from Iowa State.
  • Historic American Sheet Music, 1850-1920 Presents 3,042 pieces of sheet music drawn from the Rare Book, Manuscript, and Special Collections Library at Duke University, which holds an important, representative, and comprehensive collection of nineteenth and early twentieth century American sheet music.
  • HNH - Naxos Classicals Brief biographies of composers along with extensive streaming audio selections, makes this a very good site for classical music students.
  • INFOMINE: Scholarly Internet Resource Collections " INFOMINE is a virtual library of Internet resources relevant to faculty, students, and research staff at the university level.   • Lester S. Levy Sheet Music Collection - Home Page Part of the Special Collections at the Milton S. Eisenhower Library of Johns Hopkins University. It contains over 29,000 pieces of music and focuses on popular American music spanning the period 1780 to 1960.
